Risikesh

I'm still in Riskesh I will be here till around 10 december. On 3 december my Yoga course will finish. I started the yoga course on 8 November and is a 4 weeks course, 6 days a week and 4 hours a day yoga plus another 1,5 hour lectures in the evening.

I realy enjoy the this little relax town although it is getting cold in the evening (10 degree) but during the day it is still around 24 degrees.

Every morning I get up at 6 AM to do my Kyria??? like cleaning my tong with a tong scraper, cleaning my teeth with salz, do Vomaty dauti, and clean my nose with a neti pot. This takes about halve an hour. Then I have to fill my bucket with warm water. The warm water is not in my room so I have to walk little bit. Then I have my 1 bucket warm water for my shower.

This is one of the small disadvantages of staying in Ved Nikatan a nice and relaxing ashram were a basic room only 50 rps cost. Then I do 45 minutes of Vipassana meditation,

Around 8 am I walk to the Yoga hal, this takes about 15 minutes. At 8:30 Am we start with the Yoga till about 10:45. The yoga is not very dynamic but the explanations of the different asanas are very good. We tend to keep a postures for approx. 3 till 10 minutes. 10 minutes can be very long for a beginner as me.

Around 11:00 am I walk back to my asram and cook to brown rice. The next 10 days I'm on a osawa diet, meaning I will eat only brown rice, chapaties and mint tea or black tea. Some other people of the course are doing the same diet.

Around 15 pm I practise my Tai chi for about 45 minutes. Some people like to join me then for some Tai Chi. Or at least they are following my movements.

At 5 pm my next two hours of Yoga start after around 2 hours of Yoga we have 20 minutes break and then we start with the evening lecture.

So as you can see I'm rather busy.

After 10 december I go to Varanassi and then on to Kathmandu (Nepal) to get a new visa for India. By the way I loaded up just few new pictures. The internet connection is very slow. But have a look.

Vipassana, Bawali and Risikesh

On the first of Novembre I came out of the Vipassana centre. After 7 days of Dhama work. In this case, a bit painting, claeining and helping with the meditation sittings. During my damma work I could still meditate for 5 hours a day and the work was good fun.

On the first of november was it also Dawali. Dawali is like new year with lot of fireworks and some sweets. Sander bought one an arrow to shoot in the air. It looked great.

On thursday night (3 november) we we went to Delhi. I had to pick up my new passport because the old one was broken and Sander had to go to the Pakistani ambassy for a visum. Sander is going back overland by Autoriksja. Unfortunately the ambassy was closed.

After one night in New Delhi (and a walk trough south extension) we decided to go to Risikesh by local bus. The south of Delhi is very different then Paraganj.

So i'm now in Risikesh and since 4 days I follow a yoga course for the next 4 weeks.

I stay in a Ashram in Risikesh but the course is with another school. The ashram is very cheap only 50 rps a night. There is only one disadvantage the gate locks at 10:00 pm so you have to be inside before that time. But for 1 euro a night is it not that bad.
