This morning Jos, Annabele and I attended a Indian, Tamil wedding. The son of the family who got married is living in our guesthouse. One month ago he did not know that he would marry soon, because this is one of the many arranged marriage in India. Arranged marriage are very common here in India more then 80% of the Indians "choose" for arranged marriages. Most of the time the family makes the arrangement and then "the couple" will meet for a couple of hours so they can check each out. Of course the "couple" will not meet private but under eye of both there families.

So this morning we went to the wedding at 8 am and the wedding lasted till 9:30 am incl breakfast with idly, pongal, Vadai, puri and some kind of sweet. The wedding is ceremony with a Hindu priest, lots of traditional music all very loud, and many guest. Tonight they will be together for the first time and they will stay in there new room/house from 2 meter by 3 meter.

For us it was a big event I'm sure for the newly wed couple it must be the same or even more.

Greetings from a cold winter Tamil Nadu (28 degree brrrrrrrrrrrrr),
Meinoud
